What is The TLC Diet?

TLC Diet (Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes) is usually done to help lower bad cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Locks of this diet is to reduce the intake of fat, especially saturated fat, and getting more fiber.

This diet is intended for lowering the risk of heart disease, and involves diet along with healthy changes in lifestyle.

TLC diet does not primarily target weight-loss; instead, it's for maintaining an ideal body weight and determining the ideal daily calorie intake.

Clearly TLC diet is designed to raise levels of good cholesterol and not lose weight. But there are also studies that show generally low-fat diet can also help with weight loss.

The experts expressed this diet is good for making a healthy heart. This is because the diet that emphasizes fruits, vegetables and whole grains, but tend to be less saturated fat and salt. This method is good for maintaining normal cholesterol and blood pressure, thus decreasing the risk of heart problems.

Until now there was no indication of a risk of serious side effects that may arise and diet of the TLC diet is safe to do for children and adolescents.

Until now there has been no adverse effects on the TLC diet. It's just that this diet is not recommended for ages 21 years and below. For ages 2-21 years, NCEP develop its own diet which is a modified version under the name Integrated Cardiovascular Health Lifestyle Diet.
